10 Principles That May Make Your Work Better Or May Make It Worse

I hate the word “tip.” It implies that there’s something that you don’t know. Some secret little gem that, when sprinkled on your work, your creative process, your diet, or your sex life will magically make it all better. They promise to make all of it effervescent, and float above everything, defying gravity above all those poor folks who didn’t happen to stumble upon Dumbo’s magic feather like you did.

Tips are easy. And shallow. Principles, though, now that’s something worth talking about. If tips are puddles, principles can be oceans...

Thinking for a Living is this great site that my friend Collin shared. Here is

I like number 10 "Execute"

I often think to myself how do some people come up with such incredible things? This principle of execution is crucial to any ideas success. The problem for me is I often find myself dreaming up ideas and not executing them as best as I could.

I guess my final conclusion is when all is said and done all it takes is work, work, work.

Just finished the Black Swan by @nntalb. All of my previous education to this point has been put into question.

Have I found myself participating in the ludic fallacy? Have I been replacing theoretical models for reality?

As I am typing this I'm about to close down by internet browser and finish a finance assignment. Questions about the validity of the tools I am learning keep coming to my mind. According to Taleb the tools taught in most educational setting fall victim to the Ludic Fallacy.

How am I able to reconcile these accepted educational tools and methods with the problem of the Black Swan?

Is it even possible?

In Plushenko's mind (and website), he's the platinum medal winner

Evgeni Plushenko's long, delusional journey continues. Just days after the silver medalist for men's figure skating denied that Evan Lysacek is the true champion of men's figure skating, he has apparently awarded himself a platinum medal. From his official website

Man this Bad Boy of Ice just cracks me up. I should award myself a platinum medal every time I get second.

Quote from A. A. Milne

"By the time it came to the edge of the Forest, the stream had grown up, so that it was almost a river, and, being grown-up, it did not run and jump and sparkle along as it used to do when it was younger... For it knew now where it was going, and it said to itself, "There is no hurry. We shall get there some day." - A. A. Milne

The Stephen R. Covey Center for Leadership created at Utah State University.

The Jon M. Huntsman School of Business announced Feb. 18 that Dr. Stephen R. Covey, an internationally recognized authority on leadership and a best-selling author, has agreed to join its faculty as a tenured, full professor at Utah State University and the first incumbent of the Jon M. My wife made me some straight up good food: roasted cauliflower & curry scented couscous with coconut curry sauce.

It was amazing.

When I got home from my long drive today, my wifey had this nice meal and some home made naan prepared for me. It just hit the spot.

Go ahead and check out Rhandi's blog straightupgoodfood.blogspot.com where she got the recipe.

Jersey Shore Fist Pumps Unite. This is the Western Ed Hardy T-Shirt.

I can't decide if I like the Eastern Ed Hardy or the Western one.
I love this Michael Jackson look alike T-Shirt.

Just started reading The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable. Seems like it is going to be good.

Song: The Temper Trap - Sweet Disposition "(500) Days of Summer"

Thanks Kayti!

I was looking at your GrooveShark profile and saw this soundtrack. This song just reminds me of how much I love (500) Days of Summer.

PS I don't care if all you haters think it's a trendy movie. It's awesome... So back off!

Google Shuts Down MP3 Blogs

Man, I love music blogs. I wonder when the record labels are going to realize that people are not going to go back to the radio to discover new music. Social media is the wave of the future, embrace it.

The worst part about this entire situation is that Google decided to delete the blogs without letting the bloggers getting their content off the blog. Imagine having a blog for 5 years and putting your heart in soul into it and then having it deleted at a whim without any warning. I can imagine the frustration they are feeling. I think Google could have handled this a little differently. At least given some warnings and let the people have the opportunity to take down the content that was in question.

All you other music blogs I hope that you can stay going. I use many of you for my music collection building.

I finished the book Stardust by Neil Gaimen last night.

I liked the movie and decided that I would try the book out.

It's always nice to have a little bit of fun reading in between the routine readings of your normal day.
