Shoegaze, on the other hand, is one of my more recent loves (as with in the last 10 years). During the 90's I had never heard of the British alternative bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Ride, and The Sunday's. Grunge music had complete overshadowed them. Shoegaze aroused in the late 80's and had it's peak in the early 90's. At the same time in America Nirvana was born and Shoegaze took a back seat to one of the biggest music movements. I wish I had heard of Shoegaze back then and was able to support them but alas Nirvana killed them with it's global domination. So here I wanted to share a few of my favorite Shoegaze/Dream Pop songs from that time.
Slowdive

My Bloody Valentine

Ride

The Sunday's

I am glad that you have been able to venture into this musical terrain.
I have been pondering this same topic recently. However, I think I tend to include "shoegaze" under the musical umbrella of "college rock". The term "college rock" is what "alternative rock" use to be called before the days of Nirvana. Some other great bands of this time include Belly, Luna, and The Jesus and Mary Chain.
